RealTime Manufacturing interfaces with the RealTime Handheld RF Terminal System and is written in Java for the ultimate in portability and adaptability to the different operating systems of manufacturers such as Teklogix, Intermec and Symbol. The handheld RF terminals can be equipped with scanning capability to give the operator the most flexible and simple to use handheld system available. The handheld RF terminal program allows the operator to perform inventory transfers, material issues, inventory queries, quality control changes, and staging (or unstaging) shipments. The program combines simple to use menus with the accuracy and simplicity of barcode scanning to allow the user to perform many transactions without having to walk back and forth from a PC running inventory control. The handheld RF terminal is the proper tool for the active inventory and distribution operator. All transactions made on the handheld terminal are real-time and on-line. The transactions performed on the handheld terminals are time, date and operator-stamped as each transaction is permanently recorded in the RealTime audit trail. All users that have access to RealTime Manufacturing will have up-to-the-second accurate data. |
Radio Frequency Terminal System Functionality
The Technology The RF units function as terminals - they simply take input
and display output. This functionality is called terminal emulation. Terminal Emulation is the process
of allowing one machine to connect to another and mimic that computer's environment. With RF technology,
the RF unit connects to the NT server and mimics the server's environment.
The Breakout component allows users to break up objects into sub-objects.
The Combine component allows a material handler to combine objects of like parts into one object.
Complete Shop Floor Jobs on RF terminal.
The Material Issue component allows users to assign materials to a machine or location
for production. This is the process of consuming inventory for manufacturing.
This Material Unissue component allows users to recover actual unconsumed material from a previous material issue.
The Material Transfer component allows the user to assign object inventory to a new
location - including material transfer from the receiving dock to quarantine as well as put-away to finished goods and raw material inventories.
The Quality Control component allows the user to change the quality status of an object.
The Physical Inventory component allows users to gather inventory objects from a particular
section/location on the shop floor or in the warehouse. The end result is to allow discrepancy reporting against inventory
that is recorded. The component utilizes a special table that houses serial #s and actual location data.
The Receiving component allows the user to receive goods.
The Staging component allows the user to remove objects from inventory and verify them
against the shipper for the ship-out process.
The Shipping component allows the user to ship goods to customers.
The RF unit and the NT server communicate using a network radio frequency. As Windows does not provide
terminal access, Hummingbird InetD software provides the capability for the server to be a terminal host.
The server manipulates the data received and then sends data for output to the RF unit display.
The current platforms are Teklogix, Intermec and Symbol. Hummingbird Telnet Server is currently supporting Telnet systems.
