Bar Code Label Scanning and Printing
Throughout RealTime Manufacturing , bar code
simplicity and accuracy is used to allow operators to function
very efficiently. Bar codes are custom designed according to plant
specifications. The ability to custom design bar code labels allows
a facility to capture all pertinent manufacturing or inventory
data on that label. Also, you have the option of using or not
using bar code labels for each part - and for each stage in manufacturing.
This allows you to determine when and where bar
code technology will be used in your plant.
Typical Custom Designed Bar Code Label
From the time raw/incoming materials are received, a bar code label is generated and applied to the
package or container. From now on, bar code serialization can be used to trace this lot of material through your manufacturing
processes.
When the material is broken down or transferred to different areas in inventory, a permanent audit
trail records the who, what, and when, for that material. Anyone scanning that bar code can perform an inquiry to retrieve
the audit trail for that material. Each item in your inventory will have its own history within the RealTime Manufacturing
database.
Eventually, this material is issued to a process or work order and the audit trail will include
the issue of material, the process and the completed WIP parts.
Again, a bar code is generated for the WIP part. This part again will have its own audit trail and
history within the RealTime Manufacturing database.
The process continues until you are manufacturing your finished product. The finished product
will generate a specialized bar code label for the appropriate customer. You will still have a complete audit trail for
the finished goods - through manufacturing to receiving - including operators, times, processes, inherited lots, etc.
Once you have shipped these items to your customers, RealTime Manufacturing retains this data so you can retrieve should
it be necessary.

All of this is easily achieved using bar code labels to trace material throughout the manufacturing process. Rather than having
our shop floor personnel entering and recording data, they simply scan a bar code label and hit a button and get on with their work!
